  • Installation, configuration and administration of CentOS, Fedora Core, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SuSE Linux with SELinux enabled. Very comfortable working via Secure Shell.

  • Manage my own static IP service and server farm hosting www.macinhouse.com utilizing Apache with mod_security, vsftpd, BIND, MySQL, PHP and Mail services with Postfix, Amavis-new, SpamAssassin and ClamAV. Routing and firewall implemented with iptables.

  • Configuring and troubleshooting common services and protocols running over TCP/IP networks including but not limited to Apache, MySQL, PHP, BIND, Postfix, iptables and vsftpd.

  • Extensive background in electronics, component level troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and meters. Able to read schematics, reverse engineer circuits as needed. Holder of Extra Class amateur radio license AB8ZQ.

  • Very mechanically adept, services laser printers, large format plotters, pull network cabling and termination.

  • Understanding the goals and constraints of the customer and where appropriate, empowering individuals with technical skills to the benefit of the organization.

Professional Experience

1995 to Present – Sole Proprietor of Mac In-house

Independent consultant on Macintosh workstations, servers and mixed platform networks. Providing support for Linux has been a natural skill-set addition. Experience gained with BSD Unix and Open Source software that form the underpinnings of Mac OS X have provided a solid foundation.
